Carrie Underwood performed her newest single, "Drinking Alone," at the 2019 CMA Awards. The country superstar took a quick break from her awards show hosting duties to share the song with viewers and the audience at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday night (Nov. 13).

The stage was set like a jazz club, with Underwood donning a black hat, black blazer and palooza pants. Within the first few seconds of her performance, the 36-year-old reminded the crowd just how powerful her live vocals are.

Halfway through the performance, she took off her jacket to reveal a black rhinestone encrusted one-piece leotard with embroidered lace palooza pants while she swayed alongside the bar.

Miranda Lambert and Underwood's husband, Mike Fisher, immediately stood to applaud her performance, with Underwood herself giving a sigh of relief after finishing the last note before tipping her hat. "Alrighty then, my goodness," co-host Reba McEntire said of her co-host's performance.

Her new single and performance is a far cry from her recent No. 1 hit "Southbound" with a much darker vibe and soulful vocal tone.

"Drinking Alone" comes from Underwood's most recent album, 2018's Cry Pretty. The record is up for Album of the Year at the 2019 CMA Awards, and Underwood also earned Entertainer of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year nods.

Underwood's been hosting the CMA Awards for 12 years running. For the past 11 years, she co-hosted with Brad Paisley. She teamed with McEntire and Dolly Parton in 2019.
