Craig Wayne Boyd and Fiancee Welcome Baby Girl

On New Year's Eve, Craig Wayne Boyd may not have wanted 2015 to end. The Season 7 winner of The Voice and his his fiancee, Taylor Borland, welcomed their baby girl on the final day of the year -- which also happens to be Boyd's birthday!

Dakota Lynne was born at 5:37 PM on Dec. 31 in Nashville, according to a press release. She weighed 5.3 pounds and measured 17.5 inches long. Both mother and baby are doing well, and both daddy and big brother Jaxon are beyond excited for her arrival.

“It was the best birthday present I could have ever received,” Boyd says. “We are in love already, and I am so grateful for our growing family. Dakota is beautiful, just like her mom.”

Boyd and Borland first shared the news about baby Dakota's impending arrival in early October. The couple has been together since December of 2014 and got engaged in June, but they didn’t share the news publicly until the end of August.

“She is the one that helps me get away from all of the craziness and keeps me grounded,” Boyd says. “I had thought of a lot of different ways of asking her to marry me, but I thought, what better place to do it than after a show, when we were just there hanging out with my band family in June.”

At the end of March, Boyd headed into the studio to work on his first post-The Voice album. Before that, he was performing in Las Vegas, as the opening act of Rascal Flatts‘ Vegas Riot! residency.
