Darius Rucker Announces Release Date for New Album, ‘When Was The Last Time’
Darius Rucker has revealed the release of his fifth studio album, announcing on Tuesday (July 25) that the new project, When Was the Last Time, is set to drop on Oct. 20.
The album includes Rucker's most recent No. 1 hit, "If I Told You," and its second single "For the First Time." The country star co-wrote the track, which is currently on country radio, with Derek George ("Drink to That All Night," "Imagine That") and Travis Hill ("Wanna Be That Song," "Better as a Memory"). The singer's fifth studio country album is produced by Ross Copperman, whose other credits include co-writing and producing for artists such as Keith Urban, Brett Eldredge and Jake Owen.

“On top of being a genius with the equipment, Ross is so high-energy and funny; that kid is never not laughing," Rucker tells Billboard about working with Copperman on When Was the Last Time. “Every time we were in the studio we had a great band who had great ideas of their own, so it was the farthest thing from tedious, but just, let’s get in and do it. I think for the whole record we spent just three days tracking music.”
"If I Told You" scored the country star his eighth No. 1 single in June of 2017 and his first since 2013's "Wagon Wheel."
"I love this time in country music. It’s so wide in range and to have this song, a ballad and one I’ve loved and related to since first hearing the work tape, is pretty incredible," Rucker says about the song.
When Was the Last Time is available for preorder now.
