Anytime is always a good time to acknowledge the men and women serving our country, especially when we can highlight someone from Deep East Texas.

In this photo, U.S. Navy Operations Specialist 3rd Class Adrianna Smothermon, from Lufkin, left, and Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Jeremy Holloway, from Atlanta, fish off the fantail of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) in the Atlantic Ocean on November 3rd. The John C. Stennis is underway conducting routine operations in support of Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic.

I know we have a lot of anglers in the area who are proud of their boats, but I do believe that Smothermon has top bragging rights since she is fishing off a nuclear-powered supercarrier that measures over 1,000 feet long. I wonder if she caught anything.
