While graduation ceremonies are taking place and classes are about to shut down for the summer break, a few high school baseball teams in Texas are still in the hunt for a state title. Some of those teams from the Pineywoods include Groveton Centerville, Shelbyville, and Huntington. Hopefully, the Bulldogs, Dragons, and Red Devils all will advance to the state tourney with wins this week. It looks like the weather may play a major factor in some of those games. Last year, Huntington advanced to the state semifinals. Brookeland was the only other Deep East Texas team that advanced that far last year.

On June 4, the UIL Texas Baseball State Championships get underway. When the dust settles on Dell Diamond in Round Rock on Saturday, June 6, a total of 11 more state title trophies will be handed out. Ever since the University Interscholastic League started awarding baseball state championships in the late 1940s, a total of 13 baseball teams from Deep East Texas have claimed a state title. Out of those 13, Colmesneil has won the most championships. The Bulldogs brought home the hardware 3 times in the 1980s, again in 1990, and once again in 2003. Other Deep East Texas teams that have multiple state titles include Crockett, Dallardsville Big Sandy, and Central Heights. The Wildcats from Big Sandy won back-to-back state titles in 2018 and 2019, making them the most recent team from our area to win a championship.

Here are the 13 Deep East Texas teams that have won the UIL Texas Baseball State Championship. We've also included the players named to the All-Tournament Teams.
