If you grew up in the ’90s, you probably remember Ecto-Cooler, the Ghostbusters-branded Hi-C flavor with the cartoon version of Slimer on the box. The slime-colored drink first became popular following the debut of The Real Ghostbusters animated series, and remained on shelves for years after the show ended. But thanks to Paul Feig’s new Ghostbusters movie, the Ecto-Cooler might be making a comeback.

Planet Ghostbusters (via iO9) picked up an interesting bit of news: Coca-Cola has re-registered the trademark for Ecto-Cooler, which you can see below:

Coca-Cola might just be protecting their ownership of the name to prevent other companies from banking on the branding, but it’s quite possible that they’re preparing to put the Hi-C flavor back on shelves in time for Feig’s Ghostbusters debut next summer.

Although the animated series had ended, Ecto-Cooler’s popularity endured for years. Back in 1997, Hi-C removed Slimer from the box but kept the Ecto-Cooler name until they finally changed it in 2001 to “Shoutin’ Orange Tangergreen” and eventually to Crazy Citrus Cooler in 2006 before discontinuing the flavor in 2007.

It was recently rumored that Slimer appears in the new Ghostbusters, and while Feig denied it outright, the character’s name does show up on the IMDb cast page. That’s not always a reliable source of information, but with Coca-Cola’s renewal of the trademark it does raise an eyebrow.

Nostalgia frequently equates to profits for studios and companies eager to take advantage of name-recognition and the beloved properties of our youth. A new Ghostbusters movie is a great opportunity to bring back stuff like Ecto-Cooler — parents will buy it for their kids based on their own past fondness for the beverage, and a new generation of Ecto-Cooler-loving consumers will arise.

Ghostbusters stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, with cameos from the three remaining original cast members — Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd. The film hits theaters on July 15, 2016.
