DPS Provides Details on Fatal Sunday Morning Accident Near Burke

A fatal early-morning accident took place Sunday east of Burke in the Fairview Community in Angelina County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating this one-vehicle crash that occurred Sunday, December 10, 2023, on Farm-to-Market Road 819.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 2:00 a.m., a 2015 Ford pickup was traveling southeast on FM 819, near FM 2108, when the driver drove off the roadway to the left, where it struck a concrete culvert. The vehicle then struck a second concrete culvert before overturning. The driver and passenger were ejected during the crash.

One of the occupants in the crash is identified as Bradley Napier, 42, from Lufkin, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by an Angelina County Justice of the Peace.

The second occupant in the crash is identified as Winston Conway, 38, also from Lufkin was transported to St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan for treatment.

DPS investigators continue to investigate this crash to determine the vehicle's driver at the time of the crash.
