As you know, we are right in the middle of March Madness. Stephen F. Austin did not make it to the big dance this year. However, former head coach Brad Underwood's OSU team did make it. They lost by one point to Michigan in the first round, but they did make it into the tournament. Now, Coach Underwood is on the move again.

That's right, Brad Underwood has been named the head basketball coach for Illinois. It's hard to believe that just two years ago, he was in Nacogdoches, coaching the former Lumberjack superstar Thomas Walkup for the NCAA tournament.

Underwood was at SFA for three years starting with the 2013-14 season, where he would lead the Lumberjacks to winning three consecutive Southland Conference championship titles, and would lead the 'Jacks to three consecutive NCAA March Madness tournament appearances.

After the 2016 season at SFA, Brad Underwood was hired as the head basketball coach of Oklahoma State University, where he would lead the Cowboys to the NCAA March Madness tournament. This would be his first - and last - season at OSU.

Now, the latest news is that Coach Underwood is heading to Illinois. As someone who had a chance to watch him in action at SFA when he led the program to new places, I wish only the best for him. No, he's no longer at SFA, but he will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Lumberjacks.
