Hudson Fire Dept’s Search Team Helps Locate Missing Wells Man

According to a post on the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department's Facebook Page, a Cherokee County man who had been reported missing late Wednesday night was located through the efforts of the HFD K-9 Search and Rescue Teams.

Wednesday night around 11 pm, the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office along with the Wells Volunteer Fire Department contacted the Search and Rescue team asking for assistance in finding a missing male subject who had wandered away from his residence located in the Sweet Union Community.

The SAR team responded with 4 personnel and 2 dogs. The initial Search was by team Flint. Team Flint was provided a scent article and began trailing the subject through the woods behind the home. Team Flint located a shoe that was described by family and confirmed by the family to be a shoe worn by the missing subject. Team Flint continued to trail the subject but the terrain became too thick to continue. Team Flint returned back to the base area and team Owen was placed in the field.

Team Owen started in the same area as the shoe and worked toward that area where team Flint had previously worked. Team Owen noted a distinct alert and the team started toward the area when voice contact was made with the missing subject. Team Owen continued to the subjects location where the missing subject was found. The missing subject had lost both his shoes and injured his ankle.

Wells VFD sent a rescue truck down a logging road adjacent to the area and SAR Team members assisted with loading the patient in the vehicle for transport to an ambulance staged at the base area.

The missing subject was met by family and transported to the hospital for evaluation.
