I often praise the City of Huntington and their residents for the patriotic fervor they present whenever Veterans Day rolls around every year.  The same can be said for the Christmas Spirit that they display, especially around the first weekend of December.

HUNTINGTON CHRISTMAS PARADE

This Saturday, December 4, the annual City of Huntington Christmas Parade will roll through the town beginning at 10 am. Line-up will be on Mulberry Street, behind Huntington Middle School. The parade route will follow Main Street to Ash Street, past the nursing home, down 6th Street and ending back on Mulberry Street.

1st - 3rd place trophies will be given for the best entries. Entry forms are available at Huntington's City Hall.

CANDY CANE LANE

The Huntington Highsteppers will be presenting their annual Candy Cane Lane this Saturday from 10 am - 2 pm at the Huntington High School Commons area. This annual holiday shopping market was started over a decade ago and will feature numerous vendors displaying a plethora of Christmas gift ideas.

The competition teams from Susan's Studio of Dance will begin performances at noon.  Come hungry as well because the Huntington Band Boosters will be on hand selling their famous chicken spaghetti.

There is no charge to get in to shop, but donations are appreciated.

It will be a crazy weekend for the Highsteppers.  The following morning, the dance team will be heading to Hawaii to perform at a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor.

THE GRINCH

Huntington High School One Act Play will once again present 'The Grinch'. Students will do their portrayal of Dr. Seuss's "How The Grinch Stole Christmas".  The show will start at 6 pm at the Huntington High School Auditorium.  Adult tickets are $5, students and senior citizens are $3, and kids 3 and under get in free.

Kids are encouraged to wear their pajamas to the play.  Following the performance, be sure to stick around for some Christmas sing-a-longs.
