In Defense of the Hufflepuff House – Harry Potter Week
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone turned 20 this week and that is just crazy.

I was one when the first book came out, and I was raised on the story of “the boy who lived.” Harry Potter has been such an integral part of my life and I would never want it any other way. I of course know what house I would be sorted into, what wand I should have and what my patronus would be (thank you Pottermore).
Today I want to talk a little bit about the best house of them all… Hufflepuff. Of course Hufflepuffs are queen J. K. Rowling herself’s favorite house. Gryffindors get a lot of attention for being brave, Ravenclaws for being smart and Slytherins for being well-evil I guess. So what are Hufflepuffs known for being? Well, one of the main things they are known for being is nice. Of course you wouldn’t really want to just be known as nice right, that could get a little boring. Hufflepuffs are anything but boring. Along with being nice they are loyal, humble and fierce friends. The Hufflepuff house has had the least amount of dark wizards come out of it, so that is definitely a plus. And of course my favorite trait about Hufflepuffs, the one that comes from the great Helga Hufflepuff herself, is that they are so accepting of everyone. When the founders of Hogwarts were discussing what types of students they wanted to teach, the rest of the founders had very specific traits for those that could be in their houses. Helga said “I’ll teach the lot, and treat them just the same.” This kind of attitude is why everyone needs to be a Hufflepuff.
Now lets discuss some famous Hufflepuffs. There is of course Cedric Diggory. The heartthrob himself who was a Hogwarts Champion for the Triwizard Tournament. He was Prefect for the Hufflepuff house and captain of the quidditch team. His death was a real tragedy but he died a true Hufflepuff. Next we have another Hufflepuff who died a tragic death, Nymphadora Tonks. Tonks was a truly awesome Hufflepuff. She was different, no she literally looked different all the time thanks to the fact that she was a Metamorphmagus (she could change her appearance at will without need of a wand, spell or potion). She bravely fought in the Battle of Hogwarts, leaving her son at home, and died there for the school and people she loved. The last famous Hufflepuff I want to touch on is Newt Scamander. He was a lover of magical creatures and the author of “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” He was a kind soul and an amazing wizard, that I have most definitely fallen in love with (yes I can have a crush on a fictional character mom).
These are just a few of the reasons that I believe Hufflepuff is the best Hogwarts house that ever was. Of course, if it wasn’t glaringly obvious, I am a Hufflepuff and I will defend my house-always. Let me know why you think Hufflepuffs are the best or yell at me about why your house is better.
