Popular Texas Airport Getting $241 Million Dollar Upgrade
Traveling in my opinion is one of the most fun activities you can take part in, and we’re fortunate to have so many big airports in Texas making it easy for us to travel. It’s great going to new places and seeing new things but at times, traveling can be stressful.
For example, after you get home from your trip and you’re just waiting for your bag to hit the baggage claim area so you can grab your stuff and make it back home. But if you frequent the Austin airport there is some great news. According to KVUE, the airport is now going to spend $241 million dollars to improve and upgrade it’s baggage handling system.
Baggage Wait Times in Austin Are About to Get Much Better
The current system at the Austin airport allows for 1,600 bags per hour to be handled. The first phase of this project should be finished in the summer of 2025 and will help that number jump to around 2,400 bags per hour.
But by the time we hit 2026, the airport is confident they will be able to handle 4,000 bags per hour.

Project Going on Behind the Scenes
Even more great news about this project, as the construction on this will be done at night. This project should not disrupt passengers' ability to collect their luggage as they work to complete this project.
This could lead to less delayed flights and fewer lost bags, which is a huge win for all travelers.
The money to make this project happen came from airport revenue and federal grants. Which is just the icing on the cake, no tax dollars used on this project.
