Most people in Texas understand that when law enforcement asks you to do something it’s best to comply with their orders.

But not everyone follows their orders and normally those instances turn more hostile, which is the case with one incident recently in Brownsville, Texas.

Investigation Began Over the Smell of Marijuana

As we all know, marijuana is legal in other states, but not in Texas.

So, when a 1998 GMC Yukon approached the 28 in Brownsville and it smelled like marijuana officers wanted to give the vehicle a more detailed search which made one occupant unhappy.

Inside the vehicle was an adult male, adult female, and three children.

One Passenger Didn’t Have Proof of Citizenship

According to KXAN, the adult male didn’t have proper documentation to show he was a U.S. citizen.

The female (Brenda Rivera) was told to move the vehicle to a secondary inspection area.

Everyone was asked to exit the vehicle and the adult male didn’t want to comply.

The Fight with Border Patrol Officers Began

The male suspect identified at Julio Cesar Pena started arguing with officers and stated that he “wasn’t going to take his kids out of the (expletive) car.”

A supervisor was called to the scene then Pena attempted to shut the vehicle door and the struggle began. During the altercation Pena kicked the supervisor three times in the face.

Two other officers then ran to the SUV and pulled Pena out of the vehicle where he was handcuffed.

The supervisor was able to continue working, one officer was taken to the hospital then missed four days of work recovering from the incident.

There is no mention of marijuana being found in the vehicle.
