Most parents in Texas worry on a daily basis about the safety of their child. They want to not worry, but we live in a dangerous world, and we need to do everything possible to protect ourselves and our families. 

According to KXAN, recently there was a scam attempt that took place that Texas law enforcement wants you to know about, to make sure you don’t become a victim. 

The ‘Virtual Kidnapping Scam’ is the Latest Scam Hitting Texas 

The police department in Lakeway, Texas is warning the public about a new scam that preys on a parents' fear for their child's safety.  

How Does the ‘Virtual Kidnapping Scam’ Work? 

The scam started after a parent got a call about their daughter being kidnapped and the scam caller was attempting to meet the parent at a local Walmart or Target store.  

The scammer would then tell the scared parent some details about their family to scare them more.  

But law enforcement got involved quickly and determined there was no kidnapping going on, the family was safe. This was all an attempt to obtain money from the parent. 

Contact Law Enforcement After ANY Scam Call 

This incident was stopped quickly thanks to law enforcement. But who knows what would have happened if the parent decided to show up at the Walmart or Target store. The situation could have been a lot more dangerous.
