This Tiny Texas Town Has A Totally Unique Underground High School
Have you ever heard of Aspermont, Texas? Probably not. If you blink, you'll miss it. It's a tiny little town in Stonewall County with a lot of heart. Everyone knows one another, and everyone is friendly. It's a great place to raise a family if you aren't interested in big city life. The high school was built back in 1966 as a bomb shelter for the community during the Cold War Era. The high school doesn't have a single window, and is built almost completely underground.

Since the high school's construction, it has provided a safe place for residents in the community to wait out the worst storms. Family pets and even a few goats have been welcomed into the school during bad weather.
Students affectionately dubbed the school "The Cave", and I've been told that while it does get cold in there from time to time, there's nothing like walking into the building on a hot summer day.
