Fashion Designer From Lufkin Hits The Big Apple

Axel, a 20-year-old fashion designer, is a man after my own heart. We share a favorite vegetable, broccoli, and it's that subject matter that propelled his style this year from Lufkin to New York.

His brand is "Axel Can Do It", according to a recent interview with KTRE. This Lufkin man's designs will be at Fashion Week from Thursday, September 11th to Tuesday, September 16th.

Events will be held throughout the city, and Axel will be there along with his amazing broccoli-inspired designs printed on the fabric of the dresses and other clothing on the runways of NYC.

Lufkin Fashion Designer On The Autism Spectrum

The one thing that makes all of Axel's accomplishments so remarkable is that he is on the autism spectrum. He was diagnosed when he was only 5 years old.

He got his big break in 2023 when a local fashion designer wanted to incorporate his work into her fashion show. He walked the stage after the models to show that he was a designer and an integral part of the projects on the runway.

Last year was his first show alone. The theme was bugs; this year, we get amazing broccoli, his favorite food. The theme also pairs with a Bible verse, Psalm 34:8 - Taste and see that the Lord is good.

Axel wants to continue designing and use his success to inspire others and prove that autism is a spectrum of possibilities. I think he has done just that.
