Large Jet Makes Hard Emergency Landing At Angelina Airport
We don't get a lot of large planes landing at the Angelina County Airport on Highway 59 on the edge of Lufkin, and technically in Diboll. There are two asphalt runways, mostly used for recreational flying and training.
According to KTRE, a large charter plane made an emergency landing at our small regional airport Sunday night at around 8:30 PM. The aircraft was carrying two pilots and three passengers.

The airport manager, Gary Letney, said the plane landed so hard that it blew out all the tires on its landing gear. The hard landing was attributed to the pilot being unfamiliar with the runway.
Everyone Safe After Hard Landing At Angelina Airport
Though the plane took a hard landing, no one on board the plane traveling from North Carolina was injured. It was listed as being owned by Executive Airshare.
The plane is quite a bit larger than the aircraft we typically see land here. I've seen planes that size land successfully there many times in the past, just not under these conditions.
