Lufkin Family Escapes After Lightning Strike Burns Down House
The lightning in the past few large thunderstorms that has come to Lufkin has been so loud. Lufkin was getting bombarded almost daily last week, and though there are rain chances this week, hopefully we will all have a chance to dry out.

According to KTRE, a Hudson family is safe after lightning struck their home during a storm on Tuesday. The blaze continued to smolder for hours after the home was struck.
Firefighters pushed to keep the fire under control, but the home in the 3600 block of Ted Trout Drive will likely be a total loss. Homeowner James Stewart was starting to make dinner when he heard what sounded like a detonation.
Hudson Volunteer Fire Department Gets Wrong Address
Shortly after the lightning hit the house, the Stewart family rushed out of the home. There was already smoke coming out of every doorway and every window, according to Stewart.
The Hudson Volunteer Fire Department got the call around 3 pm, but had some trouble finding the home. They were given the wrong address, but once corrected and when they arrived on the scene, there were more setbacks.

The fire was constantly re-igniting. Once an area was completely out, a fire would start in another part of the home. All six other Angelina County Fire Departments assisted in getting the fire put out.
Leave A House Immediately If It Is Struck By Lightning
Hudson VFD Lt. Jeffery Burns said that homes do not usually get hit on the roof by lightning. If it happens, exit the home immediately.

Opening doors to the attic to try to fight the fire yourself could add oxygen to the fire and could cause a backdraft.
