There is always a box of milk glass at a yard sale or an estate sale. Most of the items you find in our area were made in the 50s, 60s, and 70s.

It is basically middle-class China. It was first produced in the 1870s, but there have been many resurgences in its popularity, changes in how it was made, and what is used to make it opaque.

Many people here in Deep East Texas still collect it, and I believe it is overdue for another boost in popularity. Its monochromatic appearance downplays its busy designs, and some pieces are perfect in a modern setting.

Hicks Antiques & Estate Sales is having a sale at 207 Welch Hilltop Road in Lufkin, Texas this weekend. It starts on Thursday, November 9th and the final day is Monday, November 13th (closed Sunday).

Most items are 25% off Friday, 50% off Saturday, and 75% off Monday. The house is packed full of over 200 pieces of milk glass collected over a lifetime.

There are many other kinds of items at the sale. You have to get there early to get the best stuff, but later to get the best deals.
