Felony Arrests In Nacogdoches County Oct 19 – 25
There are currently 306 inmates in the Nacogdoches County Jail, 11 of whom are pretrial Class A and B Misdemeanor offenders.
This report focuses on the 210 pretrial felons (182 male and 28 female). There are 29 pretrial state jail felons and 55 in the "all other" category.
There were 3,953 bookings in and out of jail in 2024. The 12 pretrial and state jail felons pictured below were arrested in and near Nacogdoches, Texas from October 19th to 25th, 2024.
7 Out Of 12 Arrests Were Women In Nacogdoches County
Looking through the felony arrests in Nacogdoches County, the one thing that stood out was more women than men were arrested on felony charges this week. Even though women make up a small part of the total jail population, female arrests across the state have continued to rise.
According to the Texas Center for Justice and Equity, almost half of the women behind bars in America are in jail, like the Nacogdoches County Jail. It's exactly the opposite with men, with only one-third in local jails and the rest in state and federal prisons.
Most of them are awaiting trials for lesser offenses than their male counterparts. The likelihood of them being arrested for controlled substances is very high in Nacogdoches County.
More Women In Jails Than Ever In Texas
Since 2011 the number of women in jail awaiting trial has grown 48% compared to an increase of 11% for men during the same time. However, the number of female arrests in Texas has decreased by 20% since 2011.

That means that women spend more time in jail due to a lack of bail money. The women in our report have been in jail since their arrest, no matter how long ago it was, and statistically more men likely made bail before this report could be done.
