Zavalla Man Jailed On 2nd Child Sex Assault Charge

We ran a story in May about Jamie Ryan Bright of Zavalla being arrested after a girl at Harold's House made an outcry to her teacher. The girl told the teacher that Bright was sexually assaulting her.

When confronted about the allegations, the Zavalla native said that he never touched the girl. Then other alleged victims started coming forward about their interactions with the man.

On May 21, 2025, he refused to take a lie detector test. He was arrested on May 22 and was released the next day after posting a $55,000 bond.

Zavalla Man Arrested Again Over New Allegations

According to the Lufkin Daily News, they obtained information through an open records request to Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Pat Grimes Grubbs. They revealed that a Zavalla Police Lieutenant observed a forensic interview with the alleged victim at Harold's House.

The girl described how the assaults took place when no one was around until the age of 7 or 8, when she was able to tell someone else to make it stop.

Jamie Ryan Bright, 52, was back in the Angelina Jail due to the charges stemming from these other alleged allegations that came forward after the initial arrest.

This new charge of sexual assault of a child against the 6' 4" Zavalla resident came with a $200,000 bond, and he is still in the Angelina County Jail. He likely wasn't able to get the funding as quickly to bond out of jail this time.

Now this second charge of Sexual Assault of a Child is listed as a First Degree Felony. He was arrested both times by the Zavalla Police.
