There's nothing quite like the disappointment of wanting to go out to eat at a restaurant, getting to the place of your choice, and finding out that they're closed. After that, nothing tastes quite as good as your first choice would have, right? We've all been there.

In hindsight, yes, we probably should have checked Google just to make sure that the place was open BEFORE we headed out the door. But there are times that restaurant open schedules are just so different from what we expect, that we would never even consider them being closed. I've found out about a couple of those in Nacogdoches the hard way.

Nijiya is Only Open Four Days a Week

I'll say it: I'm a sushi fan. I know that lots of people aren't, because of the idea of raw fish. I'm not one of those. One of the choices for sushi in Nacogdoches is Nijiya Restaurant on University Drive. One Thursday evening, my wife and I decided to drive over to Nijiya for dinner, only to find that they were closed.

According to their Facebook page, their hours are Tuesday and Wednesday, 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Friday is 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM, and Saturday they're open from 11:00 AM - 8:30 PM. They are closed Monday, Thursday, and Sunday.

NacBurger is Closed on Saturdays

Another restaurant in Nacogdoches with a schedule that kind of surprised me is NacBurger, which is also located on University Drive. I found out the hard way that they are closed on Saturdays.

According to the NacBurger website, their hours are Monday - Friday, 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM. They are closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Now, before anyone gets bent out of shape and goes off saying that I was making fun of these restaurants and smearing them all over the internet, I can assure that I'm not. One of the awesome things about where we are is the fact that business owners can set their schedules however they want, whenever they want. I was just saying that I was surprised by their schedules - mainly because I didn't check them beforehand...
