At this point, Deep East Texans have been glued to the weather forecasts. It doesn't matter if they get their forecast from television, Facebook, smoke signals, WHATEVER...They're keeping an eye on this weekend. And why is that? Because, there's a chance - a decent chance - of rain.

Rain Forecasts for the Weekend of October 2-4

I don't want to jinx it, because I'd like to see precipitation just as much as the next guy, but it seems that there's a decent chance of Deep East Texas getting some rain this coming weekend. According to the Weather Channel website, looking at the forecast for Nacogdoches, there's a 53% chance of scattered thunderstorms on Friday, October 2nd. That chance goes up to 61% on Saturday, before dropping down to 42% on Sunday.

Now, before you say something about that only being one forecast and that I shouldn't get too excited yet, you should probably know that the National Weather Service Shreveport office is predicting even higher chances via their website.

National Weather Service Predictions

On Friday, the NWS is showing a 60% of precipitation. Their numbers go up to a 70% on Saturday, followed by a 60% chance on Sunday. So, there site sounds pretty promising, too.

I realize that we're still a few days out from this. I realize that there's a good chance that the forecast will change - it's Texas, I know. I'm just saying that this is the best chance of rain that we've seen in some time. Will it happen? Who knows? All I know is that to even have this much of a chance of rain is exciting.

And, hopefully, I haven't jinxed it...

Winter Storm Fern Photos in Deep East Texas

I was able to get out and get some photos of the aftermath of Winter Storm Fern. They weren't the hard-hitting photos of damage left behind like some people had to endure, but some pretty cool pictures of the ice brought on by the storm. Check it out!
