Nothing To See Here But A Kangaroo In A Texarkana, Texas Park
Kangaroos run wild amongst the bush in the land down under and apparently, they do the same in Texarkana, Texas too!
The marsupial is a bizarre and interesting animal to just sit and watch in nature. You can see them 'in the wild' with the kids when you drive through Cherokee Trace Drive-Thru Safari in Reklaw. It's wild to see them hop and bound around while propped back on their tail as they're just checking things out around them.
Kangaroos Aren't An Everyday Sight In A Texarkana Park
Texarkana police were called out to Spring Lake Park Sunday afternoon after a concerned citizen noticed a kangaroo running around. According to the department's Facebook page, initial reactions from officers were,
Yeah, right. That's crazy!!!"
Upon arriving on the scene, officers learned that the kangaroo was a family pet. He was wearing a collar and he was out on a stroll with his human family. The five officers on scene posed with Rocky the kangaroo and captioned the picture:
Guess we really HAVE seen everything now."
If you were to ever encounter a kangaroo in the wild, be extremely careful, as with any wild animal you do not know its intentions, and often they are more powerful and faster than you! View them from a distance. If you get too close to a wild kangaroo it could lean back on its tail and kick out with its powerful back legs.
The Texarkana Police Department Facebook page has been inundated with more than 600 comments about this encounter and some of them are quite funny and punny too! It seems as if Rocky is a bit of a legend around Texarkana because a lot of people have seen, held, and petted him.
