Louisiana Bigfoot Sightings

When it comes to cryptids and lore, we have more than our fair share in Louisiana.

While Bigfoot sightings are more commonly associated with the Pacific Northwest of the United States, Louisiana has its share of reports, often referred to as the Honey Island Swamp Monster among other names.

One of the most famous cryptids in Louisiana is the Honey Island Swamp Monster.

First reported in 1963 by Harlan Ford, a retired air traffic controller and wildlife photographer, the Honey Island Swamp Monster is described as a large, bipedal, ape-like being with gray hair and yellow or red eyes.

Sightings often occur in the Honey Island Swamp area, a dense swamp near Slidell, Louisiana.

However, a recent Bigfoot sighting deemed to be credible by well-known Sasquatch researcher Matthew John Moneymaker is in a different area of Louisiana.

Moneymaker is the President of the BFRO.

The BFRO is one the leading groups dedicated to the study of the Bigfoot/Sasquatch mystery, with the aim of collecting and analyzing evidence of the creature's existence.

You may know Matthew John Moneymaker from the Animal Planet television series "Finding Bigfoot."

A few days ago, Moneymaker issued an alert about "CURRENT Bigfoot activity" in the Northeast portion of Louisiana.

From BFRO (Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization) - est. 1995 on Facebook -

"Four solid witnesses have been hearing Bigfoot sounds in nearby woods recently. Two days ago all four watched an orb floating around in the trees and between two structures moments before some whistles from nearby woods.

Witness heard low chattering in the woods last night. In the past, he has also heard Ohio howls and knocks from this location."

Moneymaker goes on to say the area of the reported Bigfoot activity is loaded with deer and is a super dense, wooded area that hasn't been cleared in the past 40 years.

119 acres of thick woods with plenty of food that hasn't been touched by a human in 40 years?

Seems like the perfect place to live if you're someone, or something, that doesn't want to be found, right?

Many Louisianians who live in the area of the Bigfoot reports have offered to help investigate the land for more evidence or possible sightings.

We'll have to keep an eye on this Facebook post to see if anything is found.
