Riders Panic As 6 Flags Over Texas Skyride Stops Suddenly
The Six Flags Over Texas theme park in San Antonio freaked out a bunch of their guests when a thrill ride suddenly stopped. You won't believe the reason why.
Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio is kinda just a big collection of rollercoasters. They have several other rides and attractions though for Texas thrill seekers and also, when I went anyway, minimal wait times.
Thrills galore ... as long as nobody tries to use their phone.
The Supergirl Sky Flight takes passengers on swings up hundreds of feet in the air and then spins as it moves up and down.
A recent Tik Tok video shows the ride stopped about halfway up, fully loaded with panicked passengers. Fortunately, the ride wasn't malfunctioning; it was stopped deliberately after the rides operator saw a passenger take out their phone.
"The ride operator observed that a guest had taken out their cell phone, which is strictly against our safety policy. Following proper protocol, the ride operator stopped the ride briefly to correct this action. The ride was restarted, completed, and all guests returned to the station where they exited as normal." - mysanantonio.com

What Other Rides Malfunctioned?
According to mysanantonio.com, last October, the Bugs' White Water Rapids stopped unexpectedly and some cars actually began taking on water.
The ride that day was functioning normally but was also stopped by an operator, (just like the Supergirl ride), to address a safety issue caused by a riders actions.
The unexpected stop left one car "uneven" causing water to spill into it. Everyone disembarked safe and sound ... and soggy.
