Yes, Texans Can Get Free Pet Health Insurance
You can't get free pet health insurance in Texas, they said. How is this even possible they asked? Walmart said; "hold my beer"..
These days, you have GOT to have health insurance. Something as simple as finding out you have allergies and not a deadly flu strain can cost thousands.
Veterinary bills can climb just as high so, these days, even Fido needs a health plan. Not worry though, animal coverage does exist and this particular plan is free.
Walmart + members enjoy a bunch of perks and discounts. For about $100 per year; my membership gets me free grocery deliveries, some special discounts, a free Paramount subscription, discounted gas prices at Murphy's stations and more.
Veterinary services for Walmart + members are handled by Pawp. Visit pawp.com for more details but, in a nutshell, Pawp provides:
- 24/7 on-demand access to vet professionals
- Unlimited, on-demand visits
- Guided ongoing care plans
- Personalized recommendations - walmart.com
Signing up is easy. First, get a Walmart + membership. Once you've subscribed, go to the "benefits" section and then scroll down to "free online pet care". Click that and then click "get started' - that should take you to this screen - then just click all the clicks and fill out all the boxes.
WARNING: Watch Your Spelling
If there's a typo in your pets name, (yep, I did), fix it before you run the health assessment. I didn't find that out until it was too late and now my dogs name will, (apparently), forever be spelled wrong. SMDH.

Pretty easy overall though and totally free, although they will try and sell you some additional coverage. Even that, honestly, wasn't a bad deal though with emergency care coverage starting at $19 per month.
