Lady Antebellum's new album Ocean represents a lot of things for the Grammy-winning trio, but one song in particular holds a special place in their hearts. The band co-wrote the album's seventh track, "Alright," with their friend and hit songwriter Busbee, who recently died of brain cancer at the age of 43.

The country trio says the song embodies his spirit.

"To me, ["Alright"] embodies how he lived: living in the moment. Enjoying what life has to offer. Knowing that it's going to have ups and downs," the trio's Hillary Scott tells Taste of Country of the optimistic, mid-tempo tune. "And there's no one who embodied that more than him."

Known for his chart-topping work with artists such as Pink, Maren Morris, Florida Georgia Line, Katy Perry and more, Busbee co-wrote at least 10 prior songs with Scott and bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood. He also co-produced several songs from the band's 2014 album 747 and the entirety of their 2017 album Heart Break, which features six of his songs, including the lead single "You Look Good."

Scott brought up Busbee while talking about her passion for cancer research and using Lady Antebellum's platform to help end the terrible disease. "We just lost one of our dearest friends in the entire world to the most rapid brain cancer," she explains. "So anything we can do for that — that's really where my heart is, and just using our platform in whatever way we can to move towards curing that awful disease."

Following Busbee (full name: Michael Busbee)'s death, Lady Antebellum shared a brief video in tribute to their friend. "You were more than a co-writer, producer, or friend. You were family," they wrote in the caption.

Ocean is due out on Nov. 15.
