Lufkin Man Dies in One-Vehicle Accident Near Angelina Expo Center

Officers with the Lufkin Police Department responded to a one-vehicle accident around 7:45 p.m. Thursday on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard near the entrance of the Brookshire Brothers Warehouse.

Details of the Accident

The driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling north on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard when the truck veered off the road to the right. It then traveled through a ditch and a creek before flipping twice.

The truck came to rest on its roof. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Identity of the Driver

Authorities with the Lufkin Police Department identified the deceased as Willie Coleman, 74, of Lufkin. His family has been notified, and an autopsy has been ordered.

No explanation was given as to why the truck left the roadway.
