Luke Combs Breaks Country Albums Chart Record Set by Randy Travis
Rising country music superstar Luke Combs continues to break records. Since its release on June 2, 2017, his debut album, This One's for You, has notched 44 weeks at the summit of the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, surpassing a record set by country music legend Randy Travis.
Travis' seminal 1987 album Always and Forever previously held the record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart for a male artist, having spent 43 weeks in the top position. However, Combs has seven more weeks to go in order to claim the honor of having the longest-running No. 1 country album ever, a record that currently belongs to country-pop icon Shania Twain and her mega-popular 1997 album Come on Over. That album notched a record 50 weeks at the top of the Top Country Albums chart.
Riley Green Is a Real Country Heartbreaker, Too
Aided by a string of chart-topping singles singles, such as "Hurricane," "When It Rains It Pours" and "One Number Away," Combs released a deluxe reissue of This One's for You, titled This One's for You Too, in 2018. The reissue allowed Combs' debut studio effort to return to the Top 10 on Billboard's all-genre chart, where it reached a new peak position, No. 4. The reissue also produced two more No. 1 country singles, "She Got the Best of Me" and "Beautiful Crazy."
Combs' has another reason to celebrate this week: His latest single, "Beer Never Broke My Heart," became his sixth No. 1 single. The song is the first single from Combs' newest project, the EP The Prequel.
