MarTeres Tea Room in Hudson Is a Huge Hit in Re-opening Event
The grand re-opening of MarTeres Tea Room in Hudson is drawing closer. Shan Mathis, the new owner of the eatery, will be opening the doors at 11 am on Thursday, November 11. MarTeres will be open for lunch, Tuesdays through Fridays from 11-2. As in the past, reservations are strongly encouraged and those are being accepted now at the restaurant.
Mathis and her team held an invitation only soft re-opening on Thursday, November 4. KICKS 105 was fortunate enough to be invited to this event and we actually made a contest out of it through our KICKS 105 App. Our winner, Jennifer Pelletier and her two guests (Tammi Lawson & Alexis Pelletier), joined other guests at our table (Kevin & Jennifer Randall).
We were treated to lunch and dessert, and everything was spectacular. Shan Mathis made it clear that her ultimate goal is to have their menu items to exactly match the savory flavor that patrons have come to expect from MarTeres. She need not worry, everything was spot on...from the food, the teas, and the desserts, oh, and the wonderful atmosphere as well.
Most of the folks at our KICKS 105 table went for the Trio Plate and ordered delicious entries such as Mexican Chicken Quiche, Chicken Salad Sandwich, Broccoli Salad, Mandarin Orange Salad, and lots of Chicken Spaghetti. Our desserts included Bread Pudding, Old-Fashioned Chocolate Cake, Toasted Coconut Pie, and Old-Fashioned Lemon Bundt Cake. Their signatures teas, like the famous MarTeres Almond Tea, were perfect.
The staff at MarTeres aims to please. That became obvious when Alexis Pelletier asked for something a little different when it came to the dessert. She is not a fan of cakes, but she absolutely loves the warm lemon frosting that's served with the Old-Fashioned Lemon Bundt Cake. So, when she asked for a small cup of just that frosting, Ashley (our server), was only too happy to bring it out. By the way, happy early 16th birthday to Alexis, here's hoping you get a big birthday cake, without the cake and only with the frosting that you love so much from MarTeres.
MarTeres will open on November 11 (reservations, of course), but, they are taking orders for the upcoming Thanksgiving holidays. For instance, you can order a pan of chicken & dressing as well as other sides dishes for Thanksgiving. The last day to order will be Thursday Nov 18. Plus, MarTeres is offering gift certificates as well -- wouldn't that make a great stocking stuffer or maybe a great gift for a teacher.
To Shan Mathis and the staff at MarTeres, thank you so much for pouring your heart into this wonderful venture. You have made many people in the East Texas community very happy.
Here's a look at some of the great food and great times we had at the soft re-opening.
