Nominate a Teacher Through the KICKS 105 App
For the past 7 years, KICKS 105 and Whataburger have been awarding East Texas teachers $1,000 classroom grants through the Teacher of the Day promotion. Each semester an area educator is selected from nominations through the KICKS 105 App or website.
Presenting The Latest Winning Teacher
Dawn Ryan is a teacher at Martinsville ISD. On Tuesday, January 23, Danny Merrell from KICKS 105 along with What A Guy and Maci Dover surprised Mrs. Ryan during a school assembly.
A special thanks to Principal Keith Kimbrough for organizing the assembly and keeping the announcement under wraps.
Wonderful Words for an Outstanding Teacher
Here are a few excerpts from Mrs Ryan's nomination
Mrs. Ryan taught my child for two years. I know it was a struggle, but she never stopped pushing him and encouraging him. He is no longer at MISD, but she has continued to support him in his studies.
She has voluntarily given her time after school to continue working with him. She never wants anything in return. Her words to me when I tried to offer her compensation were, "Once my kid, always my kid."
My son tells me at least once a week, "The teachers are good, but they are not Mrs. Ryan." She deserves recognition for what she does for her MISD kids and all of her past students who are still "her kids."
How To Nominate a Teacher
KICKS 105 and Whataburger will be awarding another $1,000 classroom grant to a teacher in May. It's easy to nominate an educator, just follow the instructions on our teacher page.
