Lucas Till can currently be seen in theaters around the world in X-Men: Apocalypse, where he plays Havok, the older brother of mutant leader Cyclops. Till first played Havok in X-Men: First Class, which was set 20 years before Apocalypse. So that means the character is somewhere in his late 30s to early 40s in this new movie.

Next January, you’ll see Lucas Till play a teenager. A high school senior, to be exact. Talk about range!

Till (who’s actually 25) stars in Monster Trucks, which is an exceedingly literal title. He plays a guy who’s into trucks and then also discovers a weird creature who then attaches itself to his truck and becomes its motor somehow. Then hijinks ensue. Oh, how they ensue. Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.

Look, it’s a movie about monster trucks that are actual monster trucks that’s opening in the middle of January. It is what it is. Mostly I just feel for Lucas Till. Hang in there, dude. Someday you’ll get to play a character that’s sort of close to your actual age. That or you’ll continue to Benjamin Button your way through Hollywood until you’re cast in a Baby Geniuses reboot.

Monster Trucks opens on January 13, 2017.
