Sheriff Bridges said that apparently an altercation had started between two neighbors that live less than 100 feet apart in mobile homes. The disturbance allegedly started over a female that was at one of the residences. The report goes on to say that the suspect went back to his home and got an AR .223 rifle and shot at least 6 rounds into his neighbor’s house.  Several of the rounds from the rifle penetrated the residence where an infant baby was sleeping along with two adults.

Sheriff Bridges stated that they would later find the loaded rifle the suspect used in the shooting on his living room floor. There were also four young, unattended children in the living room.

Charles Drinkard, 28, was arrested at the scene for Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon.  Sheriff Bridges stated that Drinkard was heavily intoxicated at the time of the arrest. Drinkard was booked into the Nacogdoches County Jail and bond has been set at $50,000 dollars.

No one was injured in the shooting.
