Nacogdoches Police Officer in Critical Condition with COVID-19
The Nacogdoches Police Department is asking for prayers for one of their officers who is battling COVID-19. Because of an outpouring of those in the community who are wanting to help through prayers and/or financial offerings, the NPD has decided to share the details of the situation, all with the permission of the policeman's family.
In a post on the department's Facebook Page, the following information was released:
"NPD Sgt. Al Patterson, is a lifelong public servant having served the Nacogdoches community as a police officer for over two decades. On August 13, 2021 Sgt. Patterson was admitted to the hospital due to complications from Covid 19. The following day Sgt. Patterson was placed into the ICU. Later that afternoon he was taken by ambulance to Medical City Plano for a higher level of care. Sgt. Patterson is still in critical condition in Plano, Tx receiving the absolute best care possible from the medical staff there. Sgt. Patterson is married and has a teenage daughter of which neither can be there with him due to restrictions at the Covid Unit. Sgt. Patterson and his family are deeply loved and respected by the NPD family and we ask for your continued prayers and well wishes during this difficult time for their family."
The Nacogdoches Police Department is planning a BBQ lunch fundraiser on September 17, but for those who want to contribute now, an account has been established at Commercial Bank of Texas to assist the family with the financial burden. Any donations can be made at any CBTX branch to the “Al Patterson Benefit Account”.
