National Weather Service is Coming To Lufkin
The weather can sometimes leave you feeling a little helpless. What can you do besides just ride out whatever mother nature decides to give out. I think this free training course coming up in Lufkin is a great way to feel empowered when the weather turns, and help your fellow citizens at the same time.
This Saturday, February 15th there will be a National Weather Service SKYWARNTM Weather Spotter Training Course at the Lufkin Convention Center 601 N. 2nd St. Learn more about severe weather, just show up for the Combo Class from 9am - 11am. If you are interested in helping your community by reporting severe and or hazardous weather to the NWS. It is open to the public.
If you can't attend one of their classes in person, official SKYWARNTM training is available online through the COMET program. COMET is a cooperative program between the National Weather Service and the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR).
Anyone who completes this online course, passes the associated quiz with a score of 70% or better, and watches a video provided by the National Weather Service in Blacksburg will become an officially trained SKYWARNTM spotter.
