Police: Machete-Wielding Nacogdoches Man Confronts Neighbor
A Nacogdoches man was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly breaking into his neighbor’s house with a machete. A call came into dispatch around 6:40 am of a burglary in progress on Highway 7 West. Nacogdoches County Sheriff's deputies responded to the call and arrived within minutes.
Deputies observed that the suspect had made forced entry into the residence by kicking open the front door. The suspect that was identified as Marcus Rodrigues had allegedly made forced entry into his neighbor’s residence with a machete in his hand. The suspect then confronted the home owner inside the residence and started making aggressive comments. The suspect then left and went to his residence that was nearby before deputies arrived.
Deputies attempted to make contact with the suspect at his residence, but he refused to come to the door. After a brief time, deputies made forced entry into the suspect’s residence. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
Marcus Rodrigues, 41, has been charged with Burglary of a habitation with intent to commit assault, a 1st degree felony. No bond has been set at this time.
