Prescribed Burn Scheduled Today for Sabine National Forest

Officials with the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas will be conducting a prescribed burn in the Sabine National Forest today (2/28).

Over 3600 acres in the Boles Field area will be targeted in this burn. The area is South of Farm Market 2694, between Shelby County Road 2420 and Farm Market 3471 (Possum Trot Highway) in Shelby County.  The map below shows the projected burn areas (Blocks C & D).

Motorist driving in this area should use caution for smoke and please have headlights on. Winds are predicted from the Northwest @ 6-10 MPH.  Ignition time should take place around 11 AM and the estimated completion is 6 PM.

Another 1500 or so acres will be subject to a scheduled burn today from noon until around 6 PM.  The area is between Hwy 147 and FM 2558, in San Augustine County,  Please see the attached map of the projected burn areas.
