AMC has no end to The Walking Dead in sight, but – heading into an eighth season – we have to at least consider saying goodbye to some major characters. Andrew Lincoln knows exactly how he wants Rick’s story to end, and now recites the twist with gleeful detail in a new PaleyFest video.

One year after The Walking Dead Season 6 built toward Negan’s arrival, the leather-clad villain is once again ready to face off with Rick; this time with armies on both sides. So reveals the official trailer for Season 7 finale “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life,” along with a new clip.

The Walking Dead has only two episodes left in Season 7 to kick off the “All Out War” between Negan and Rick, but theirs may not be the only conflict ahead. A new clip from next week’s penultimate “Something They Need” sees Gregory extending an ominous olive branch to Maggie, though we suspect some treachery afoot.

The Walking Dead murder-train is once again rolling toward a finale, and even as Season 7 lacks the promise of a specific death, casualties are bound to arise once open war with Negan breaks out. The Walking Dead has had no shortage of controversy since the brain-bashing arrival of Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan, though the series may have inadvertently stoked racial tension as well. U.K. suppliers apparently pulled official merchandise over accusations of racism, though Morgan himself dismisses the controversy with “people are stupid.”
