Charlie Daniels understands that NFL protesters have a right to take a knee during the National Anthem but says he doesn't understand why they chose that venue and that song. It's insulting to America and American servicemen and women, he says.
The venue dates back to the 1890’s, Schroeder Hall, and is the second-oldest dance hall in Texas. It's a place where many famous country singers cut their teeth including: Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, George Jones, Ronnie Milsap, Roy Clark, Oak Ridge Boys, Charlie Daniels Band, Tammy Wynette, Ray Price and many, many more...
Condolences go out to the family and friends of Charlie Daniels Band member Joel ‘Taz’ DiGregorio, who was killed in a car accident Wednesday night (October 12) just outside of Nashville. Taz, 67, was on his way to bus call late Wednesday when he wrecked his car along I-40 in Cheatham County. The keyboardist died as a result of the injuries he sustained in the single-car accident.
Today is the 175th anniversary of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence.
Through the years there have been thousands of great songs about Texas. We're featuring five after the bump.
