In 2015 and 2016 in Deep East Texas, rainfall amounts in May were well above normal, but as soon as June came around, the rain slowed to a trickle. In 2017, we have had another wet May and it looks like the first few days of June could bring downpours across the Pineywoods.
Overall, the Fall season across East Texas has been rather dry. Parts of the Pineywoods have actually been classified back into a moderate to severe drought.
Remember back in June when many East Texas yards were mostly made of mud? Some people went so far as to curse the huge amounts of rain that we received in the Spring...but, most of us knew better.
Yup, you're reading the map correctly. Between 4-7 inches of rain could fall in the Pineywoods over the next week. I don't know about you, but I've already gotten my riding mower stuck at least a half dozen times.
