A rainbow arching near the Hallsville stadium represented the calm before the literal and figurative storms on Friday night.  Not long after this picture was taken, several nearby lightning strikes caused a half hour delay to the start of the Dragon and Bobcats football game.

The high school football team at Pulaski Academy in Arkansas doesn't have a punter.  They don't need one.  That's because they never punt...no matter where the ball may be on fourth down.  Oh, and every kick-off is an onside kick.

Yes, football is a violent game, but a matchup on the gridiron between two high schools in Pennsylvania took it to a whole new – and possibly illegal – level.

It was a huge night of firsts at the Lufkin - Tyler Lee game Friday night. It was the first win of the season for the Pack, as well as the initial win as Panther head coach for Todd Quick.  It was also the first game played on the newly named John Outlaw Field.

The wait is over. High school football gets underway this week across East Texas, and although district action is still a few weeks away, there are already some marquee match-ups in this first week.

The Lufkin Panthers are just one week out from kicking off the regular season.  Every game is big, district games are even bigger, but for nearly the past decade, one game has been the deciding factor of who has taken the district championship.

The march to the Texas state championships in high school football rolls into week number 13. There are still a number of teams from our neck of the woods that are in action.  Get a look at the schedule after the jump.
