Thanks to the severe storms as well as scattered power outages, several area schools will be getting a late start this morning. Here's is the up to date list:
For the 3rd time in 10 days, much of Deep East Texas is under a Winter Weather Advisory. This alert runs from 9pm Wednesday night and continues until noon Thursday.
Those who have lived in Deep East Texas long enough realize that in the Winter time we are often right on the cut off line when it comes to wintry weather chances. Here we go again.
Freezing rain caused a few issues yesterday, especially for the areas north of the Angelina River. As of 5 this morning, skies are still overcast, however, temperatures, for the most part, are just above freezing and a big dose of sunshine is expected today.
Around midnight last night strong storms pushed across the Pineywoods. Although none of the storms were considered to be severe by the National Weather Service, winds in excess of 45 mph were rather common, which has led to numerous power outages.
A freeze warning and a Wind Chill Advisory are in effect for tonight. We're expecting lows near 20 with wind chill readings into the single digits. Some flurries or light sleet is possible but shouldn't cause any problems.
