strange criminal stories

August 1 proved to be a very interesting day for criminal activity in Lufkin, Texas.

Last week, the full moon was out over East Texas.  However, the bizarre behavior that is sometimes attributed to it waited until the weekend.

According to a release from the Lufkin Police Department, Deotis Taylor, 39, was arrested after causing a scene at a South Timberland Drive McDonalds.

There's an old saying, "When you gotta go, you gotta go."  That doesn't necessarily mean you should go right then and there, especially if you're talking to Lufkin's finest.

According to a Lufkin Police report, on Monday evening a man was arrested for public intoxication at a restaurant parking lot.  He identified himself to police as Christopher Columbus.

Terry Jones of Lufkin was released Monday morning for the Angelina County Jail after serving a two week stint for criminal mischief.  He must have liked the accommodations.

In 30+ years of radio, I have amassed quite a few strange stories that I could tell.  But, something tells me those stories wouldn't hold up to a week's worth of what a police officer experiences.  Let's add one more to the list

There was no full moon out this past weekend, so we can't use that as an excuse for some of the strange behavior as reported by the Lufkin Police report.  Let's start with the case of the mystery dog.
