Severe storms raced across a number of Deep East Texas counties Wednesday evening. Over the course of the night, severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings were issued for Cherokee, Nacogdoches, Shelby, and Panola counties.
Springtime in East Texas means pollen, love bugs, and severe storms. A round of pea to half dollar sized hail hit our area on Wednesday afternoon, and Saturday night, we could get some more.
Severe weather and massive rainfall amounts are threatening the Pineywoods over the next several days. Up to a foot of rain could fall in parts of our area.

This morning, we saw some scattered storms and downpours across Deep East Texas. They may have just been the appetizer. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Tornado Watch until 10 p.m. for portions of the Pineywoods. Those areas included are outlined in the graph above.
The same system that brought brief heavy rains and a few severe storms to the PIneywoods Sunday morning has wreaked havoc with numerous tornadoes across Mississippi and Alabama.

We desperately need the rain, but as an added bonus last night, we got the teeth of the storm as well. There were many reports of hail and tornadoes throughout the Pineywoods last night, and we could have a repeat tonight.
