Texas HS Football Player Scores 112 Fantasy Points in One Game
If I told you the final score of a recent Texas high school game was 116-110, you'd probably assume that it was a high-scoring basketball game that had probably gone into overtime.
Nope...it was a first-round six-man football playoff game between the Robert Lee Steers and the Westbrook Wildcats. The Wildcats prevailed with a six point victory.
Teams in six-man football scoring up to 70 points is not that much of an oddity, but 226 total points ranks as the 6th most points ever scored in a high school football game.
Here's something else crazy from that game...the 4th quarter was a DEFENSIVE battle with each team only scoring once. The score after three quarters was 108-102.
Amazing Individual Performance
According to a recap of the game by San Angelo Live, Robert Lee quarterback Brenner Sherwood had a game for the ages. He had a part in all 14 touchdowns scored.
Brenner threw for 370 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran for 258 yards and seven TDs on 14 carries. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.
Fantasy Football Points
Around 29 million people play NFL fantasy football, but thankfully, it's not allowed at the high school level. That being said, let's take a look at how many points Sherwood would have amassed using a basic fantasy football scoring system that many use.
- 370 passing yards @ .04 points for every yard = 14.8 points
- 6 passing touchdowns @ 4 points for every TD = 24 points
- 258 rushing yards @ 0.1 point for every yard = 25.8 points
- 7 rushing touchdowns @ 6 points for every TD = 42 points
- 1 kickoff return for a touchdown = 6 points
- TOTAL - 112.6 points
I've had weeks where my entire fantasy team didn't top 100 points. That's what I get for drafting too many Dallas Cowboys players on my fantasy team.
Oh, by the way...Brenner is only a junior.
