The 30th Annual Texas State Forest Festival held in 2014 was one of the most attended and most successful in history.  Last week, the Texas Associations of Fairs and Events recognized our local festival as the best one in the Lone Star State.

In addition to being named the best festival for a city under 50,000 in population (which Amanda Anderson, Danny Merrell, and Melissa Wheeler are displaying proudly), the Texas Forest Festival received 13 other awards.  The 6 first place awards, 3 second place awards, and 4 third place awards are a testimony to the countless hours, many of which are volunteer hours, that go into the production of this event.  This picture represents just a very small segment of those that put so much into the success of the Texas Forest Festival.

Funds from the annual event benefit the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, the George H Henderson, Jr Expo Center, and the Texas Forestry Museum.  Preparations are already underway for the 31st annual Texas Forest Festival coming in September.
