The Voice's Season 15 Blind Auditions moved right along on Monday night (Oct. 1), featuring coaches Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson and Blake Shelton.

There were several heated arguments between the show's country cheerleaders—i.e., Shelton and Clarkson—with not the least of them being over West Virginian warbler Rachel Messer.

The 19-year-old vocalist let her pure country roots shine on a cover of LeAnn Rimes' "I Want to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart," even throwing in some top-notch yodeling to round out the performance. Naturally, Clarkson and Shelton turned their chairs.

"Let me tell you, I was singing from the first words," Clarkson asserted, giving a little demonstration of her own yodeling skills. "Calling all female country artists! I want to work with you!"

"Not only do I want her, I know what to do with her," smoothy countered Shelton. "This isn't going to be dabbling in country music. She is country music. I'm country!"

"The sooner you let go, the sooner you can move on," sagely advised Levine to Clarkson, but the singer still pleaded her case. "I'm telling y'all. There is life beyond Blake!" she declared.

Shelton calmly took over, telling Messer that "there is still a hunger for traditional country music out there," adding "You're the kind of artist that excites me because you honor the history country music before taking a step forward with it."

Needless to say, Messer was won, and declared her loyalty to Team Blake. "Kelly, I love you," she said, before making her choice...to which Clarkson groaned "I know."
