Tornado Watch Issued for Palestine, Athens, and Nearby Counties

The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center has issued a tornado watch of counties to the west of Deep East Texas.  This watch continues until 9 pm and includes all of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metro, Waco, and extends to Van Zandt, Henderson, and Anderson counties.  This would include cities such as Palestine, Athens, Canton, Elkhart, and Slocum.

None of Deep East Texas is included in this watch, but it would be wise to be prepared for the severe weather we are forecasted to get tonight.

Over the course of the past few hours, severe storms have been firing off ahead of a frontal boundary.  Severe thunderstorms and tornadoes have been reported in Oklahoma.
