It's hard to believe that it has been 42 years since Bud and Sissy introduced the world to two-steppin', Gilley's, and how to make a mechanical bull the center of a domestic dispute. Urban Cowboy is one of those movies that no matter how old it gets, the 'almost-cult' following continues to grow.

Movies like 'The Princess Bride', 'Scarface', 'The Breakfast Club', and, of course, the movie that took us to Pasadena, Texas have a huge loyal fan base.  Urban Cowboy events continue to be very popular, especially across the South.  Now, we get to have one in our own backyard.

Saturday, October 1, Urban Cowboy Night is coming to 58 Junction in Lufkin.  Hughes Entertainment and the wonderful folks that put on the Pineywoods Jamboree in Lufkin are producing this night of two-steppin' and reminiscing.  The Pineywoods Jamboree Band will be performing the songs that made the movie soundtrack one of the best sellers of all time.

You can not have a true Urban Cowboy Night unless you have some of the competitions just like they did in the movie.  There will be a dance contest, a Dolly Parton look-alike contest, and well find out who is tops in riding the mechanical bull.  The winner in each will win $100.  More details about the events of the night can be found here. Proceeds from the Urban Cowboy Night will benefit the Make A Wish Foundation.

Tickets will go on sale on Monday, August 8.  General admission tickets are $15/each. BUT, HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TICKETS FOR HALF-PRICE?

KICKS 105 has teamed up with for a special offer.  Beginning, Friday, August 5, you can get TWO tickets for $15 total.  This will start at 10 a.m. on that day and there is only a limited supply of these discount tickets.

The ’80s were great. But not every ’80s movie was great, as these 20 titles prove quite definitively.
